Namthing Pokhri is a small lake tucked away in the forest near Sittong. It is known as a home of the Himalayan salamander, a rare and protected species, which makes it a special stop for nature lovers.

This is a place to walk slowly and keep your voice down. The still water, the moss and the tall trees give it a calm, almost secret feel. Salamanders are easier to spot in the wetter months, but please look without touching and leave the lake undisturbed.

The path can be slippery after rain, so wear shoes with a good grip.
